It’s been a while but Mommy Fashionality is back! Hello mommies!!! Fall is almost here. It’s a time of transition and for many people, their favorite fashion season. While I do appreciate the great fashions that fall brings, I’m a complete and total SUMMER GIRL! Nevertheless, I do embrace the fall season as the perfect opportunity to regroup and refresh my wardrobe. I encourage you to do the same!
Use this season to re-imagine your wardrobe and give yourself a mini FASHION MAKEOVER! And before you start sighing and complaining about not knowing how to do that, the best piece of advice I can give you is SIMPLIFY. Don’t over-complicate this. Find a few great pieces that are comfortable (not to be confused with frumpy) and eye-catching and incorporate them into what you already have. Here are a few other simple ways to spruce things up this fall:
By a vibrant colored fall/winter coat. It’s a great way to brighten up dreary winter days.
A military jacket adds an instant “cool girl” factor.
Add printed cardigans to simple outfits to add a little spark!
Don’t forget your nails. Find cool colors for fall.
As I was walking the floor at Nordstrom this morning I stopped by the cosmetics department to check things out. On display there was Gucci Guilty for Her. Lovely fragrance!!!! Next time you’re in the store please stop and check it out!!! You may not be able to afford a Gucci handbag but perhaps you can afford a Gucci fragrance. Remember gals…a lady should ALWAYS smell nice!!! 😉
I love shopping for new beauty products! Whether it’s new makeup, nail polish, facial cream, or deodorant, I love trying new things in hopes of finding something great to share with you! In my latest quest, I decided to try St. Ives Restoring 24 hour Moisture lotion. The verdict: LOVE IT!!!! Works very well, lasts all day, and keeps the skin feeling smooth and silky. I love it so much that I also purchased 3 different kinds of St. Ives face washes during my next trip to the store. For years my mom has used St. Ives products, while I opted for so many others. I guess this is yet another situation where I’m becoming more like my mother! Scary!!! 🙂
It seems like holidays and seasons are beginning to run all together now. As soon as one is over the other is being advertised or celebrated within days. Well, now the makeup industry is jumping on this bandwagon by already introducing Spring 2010 makeup collections. I don’t really think that this is a bad idea since we are all having winter blues right now with all of the snow and cold weather. So why not pick yourself up with a little early spring color?
Rummage around for red…lipstick that is. Red lips continue to be classy for spring. Just remember to keep your eye makeup light.
Long lashes are big. A huge trend are permanent false lashes applied individually. They last a couple of weeks and are especially big on the West Coast. Not ready to go the glued route? Layer on the mascara. Several coats should do you fine. (Don’t believe the old beauty ‘no’ that says you should only apply 2 coats of mascara. That ‘don’t’ is now a ‘do’: You just can’t get lush, thick lashes with only two coats.
Don’t overbronze. Fake tanned skin is in again, but don’t go overboard. Instead, try layering your fake tan with a light tanning creme set with a tinted moisturizer or a bronzing powder. The best thing about bronzed skin? You can go light on the rest of your makeup. We love bronzed skin paired with a pink lip gloss and mascara.
Here are a some of the makeup lines that have already released (or will be releasing very soon) their spring 2010 collections:
Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals Collection
Chanel Les Impressions de Chanel Collection
Clarins Cotton Flower Collection
Clinique Juiced Up Color Collection
Dior Boudoir Look Collection
Estee Lauder Michael Kors Very Hollywood Color Collection
As I sat down to read Lucky Magazine the other day, a favorite monthly ritual of mine, I saw an advertisement that I thought I’d share with you. The ad was for a leave-in conditioner by a company called Mixed Chicks. Instantly the named intrigued me, so I decided to visit the website to see what this company is all about. And though I’m not technically a “mixed chick” (although some would argue that we’re all mixed in some way), I love what these ladies are doing. Wendi Levy and Kim Etheredge started “Mixed Chicks” hair product line for people of all races and nationalities with curly hair. Both children of interracial relationships, their goal was to create good, quality products for those with natural curls.

As the mom of a child with naturally curly hair, I’ve experienced the struggle of finding products that work well. For the Mommy Fashionality moms looking for hair products for your curly haired little ones or even for yourself, give Mixed Chicks a try! You can find information about the company and products on their website, MixedChicks.net. You can order products online as well.
Mommy Fashionality encourages all of our readers to support the relief efforts in Haiti. Even the smallest contribution can make a big difference. 🙂

What is your favorite accessory? Is it a pair of diamond earrings, a piece from Tiffany’s, a hot handbag you got at a steal price, or maybe you’re like me, a pair of shoes that makes you thank God for the designer who made them! Everyone has that piece that makes you look and feel your best when you step out in it. That piece that nobody can tell you that you don’t look good in. It gives you confidence and puts a little extra pep in your step when you wear it. Now imagine wearing that piece everyday. Imagine having that feeling of confidence and happiness in whatever you step out in. One thing we do well as women is dress things up, make things look good from the outside while neglecting our inner being. But we all have heard time and time again that “true beauty comes from within.” And that statement is so true! We’ve all come across a woman that oozes confidence and thought to ourselves, “If only I could be like her.” Well what’s stopping you? Now is the time to live the life that you’ve imagined. Now is the time to be that woman of confidence. No accessory compliments a woman like self confidence, happiness, and a smile that comes from within. So today before you put on your favorite material piece, take some time to dress yourself in the things that cause your confidence to ooze from within. Now is the time to DRESS UP YOUR LIFE!
