Fashion Gives Back…to orphans!

From now until Christmas, our blog posts will be dedicated to fashion that gives back! We do not want to let the holiday season pass without being a blessing to others. Since most of us will be giving gifts to family, friends, co-workers, kid’s teachers, secret Santa pals and the like, Mommy Fashionality be sharing wonderful gifts that give back. Here’s the first one….Common Threadz! Common Threadz is an organization committed to helping orphans in developing countries reach their full potential by empowering their communities with the resources necessary to succeed.  The company sells a variety of merchandise and for every item you buy, Common Threadz will give a school uniform to an orphan in Africa so that they may attend school, or meals for 1 month! This is definitely a “gift” with a greater purpose! Happy Shopping!!! 🙂

From THE ORPHAN COLLECTION (the designs on these items were created by orphans in Africa; buy an item…feed an orphan for 1 month!)

There’s so much MORE to see. Visit commonthreadz.org to see more items and make your purchases.

Lucky Kids!

It’s no secret that Lucky Magazine is my favorite fashion mag! I think the fact that it’s all about shopping and I love to shop makes it the perfect magazine for me. And to further solidify my unwavering love, I opened the April issue only to discover an issue of Lucky Kids! YES! *fistpump*

Like its counterpart, Lucky Kids is filled with pages of THEEEEEE cutest clothes for the kiddos. They even do a great job of providing cute, trendy options for little boys, as we all know that it’s relatively easy to find fabulous clothes for girls. Boys…..not so much! Love it!!! If you don’t have a copy, get one!!! 🙂

Would you let your kid pose in Vogue like this?

As I visited Style.com (as I often do), I came across an article about Carine Roitfeld’s final issue as the controversial editor of French Vogue. The title intrigued me: French Vogue Grooms Its Youngest Models Yet. Little did I know that the models were little girls who look like they’re between the ages of 6 and 8ish. This takes playing “dress up” to another level. They are draped in fine jewels, fabulous garments, and beautiful heels. And their faces are painted flawlessly with makeup, causing them to look like little teenagers/young women. The question the article poses, Is this too much? What do YOU think mommies? I’m still undecided on the matter. If my 6 1/2 year old daughter had an opportunity to appear in Vogue magazine dressed like an adult fashion model, would I say no? Perhaps I should have an answer but I don’t. She wears makeup and costumes for dance competition. Is that different? Be real….would you let your daughter do it? Something to think about……

Simply Soles…Simply Fabulous!

Kassie Rempel, Owner of Simply Soles

A couple of weekends ago I attended the Grand Opening of Simply Soles at the National Harbor. For those of you who don’t live in the DC area, Simply Soles is a cool, super chic boutique that sells shoes, accessories, jewelry, and handbags. After experiencing great success at the Georgetown location, the Simply Soles team decided to spread their wings and landed at the National Harbor. The morning of the opening I debated not going. It was a gorgeous, perfect sunny day but I really didn’t want to go by myself. In the end I decided to go and I’m so glad I did! The store is beautiful…loved it! You MUST go visit AND buy something (they sell kids merchandise too)! But I was most impressed with owner, Kassie Rempel. Can you say SUPER MOM?!? She’s a wife, mother of two young children, CPA, fashion designer (her shoe line, Lillybee, is sold in her store) and entrepreneur doing big things! I’m so impressed! She’s a true testament that being a mom does not mean sacrificing your own goals and dreams. We can accomplish whatever our hearts desire with hard work and perseverance. Kassie has turned her love of shoes into a successful enterprise. Let’s follow her lead. Mommies, we CAN accomplish GREAT things! So…let’s do it! NO EXCUSES. 🙂

To shop and learn more about Kassie, visit simplysoles.com, or one of the stores in Georgetown or the National Harbor.

Fashion’s New Breed

So as I am on my way out of H&M, to check out their latest finds, I ran into  a little boy who stopped me dead in my tracks. As I stood there in amazement at what I just found, I remembered the blog and thought, I have to share this rare jewel with the ladies. What was so special about this little boy? Yes he was cute, and amazingly had lots swag  to be so young. But what did it for me was the outfit! Detail, detail, detail! From the wrist watch, to the yarn bracelets, who knew a little boy could be soooooooo cute and fashionable! I thought my son was pretty fly, but this little boy has officially out done them all. Don’t believe me, well take a look for yourself. I’m sure you will agree this little boy is definitely fashion’s new breed. :-).

Let’s hear it for the boys!

OMG! For the first time in my almost 3 years of parenting I have found a kids collection where the boys selection is far more cute than the girls! What am I talking about you ask? Htg 81 Kids, Forever 21’s new kids line. Sorry girls but this time, for once, this line isn’t really catering to you. But the boys are rocking it out! From the Kanye West inspired purple and black stripe zip up jacket to the acid washed distressed skinny jeans, your son will definitely look like a rock star with these looks. The only problem is these pieces are for the big kids. So for all of you moms with toddlers (like me), you’ll have to wait a few more years. I guess for right now I’ll stock up for my nephew and hope that his pieces will still be in good enough condition to pass down to Aiden (hopefully…with fingers crossed). But for all of you moms out there with kids between the ages of 8 to 12 check Htg 81 Kids out. You’ll have a ball shopping, I promise! 🙂
