Comfy Doesn’t Mean Frumpy!

While investigating the hottest trends for fall, I saw something that really concerned me! I discovered that “warm, comfy sweaters” would be one of the trends. And while this may sound alright, I immediately became concerned for our frumpy friends! Comfy does not mean FRUMPY! Here are a few ways to rock the warm and comfy look without looking like you just threw on any ‘ole thing! 🙂

Back to “School”!

It’s been a while but Mommy Fashionality is back! Hello mommies!!! Fall is almost here. It’s a time of transition and for many people, their favorite fashion season. While I do appreciate the great fashions that fall brings, I’m a complete and total SUMMER GIRL! Nevertheless, I do embrace the fall season as the perfect opportunity to regroup and refresh my wardrobe. I encourage you to do the same!

Use this season to re-imagine your wardrobe and give yourself a mini FASHION MAKEOVER! And before you start sighing and complaining about not knowing how to do that, the best piece of advice I can give you is SIMPLIFY. Don’t over-complicate this. Find a few great pieces that are comfortable (not to be confused with frumpy) and eye-catching and incorporate them into what you already have. Here are a few other simple ways to spruce things up this fall:

• By a vibrant colored fall/winter coat. It’s a great way to brighten up dreary winter days.
• A military jacket adds an instant “cool girl” factor.
• Add printed cardigans to simple outfits to add a little spark!
• Don’t forget your nails. Find cool colors for fall.

DVF for Gap Kids!

If you know me, you know I loooooooooove Diane von Furstenberg! As many designers are doing these days, Diane has joined forces with GAP Kids in a collabo that we’re really excited about. I am pleased to announce that now our little lady fashionistas will be able to wear DVF’s chic fashions in the new DVF for Gap Kids collection. We hope you all are enjoying your day! Today’s post is about a really cool organization with a unique, and extremely necessary, purpose. To Write Love on Her Arms is dedicated to finding HOPE, providing ENCOURAGEMENT, and giving LOVE to help struggling with suicide, depression, self-injury, and addiction. If you have never heard of TWLOHA, you OWE it to yourself to read the vision and story of how this all began. It is very moving and powerful. I would not do it any justice by trying to tell it. READ IT!

Fashion gives back…to women!

Happy Wednesday mommies! We bring you another great gift idea that gives back to those in need….Paper to Pearls. We wrote about Paper to Pearls and the great work they are doing last summer. This wonderful organization empowers women in northern Uganda by providing opportunities for economic growth and education. Using recycled paper, the women create beautiful, eco-friendly beaded jewelry (and let me tell you…it looks nothing like paper). The sale of this jewelry provides income and puts the women of northern Uganda on a path towards economic independence and freedom. 75%-85% of the revenue from sales and donations directly supports the beaders. Fashion Gives Back…to orphans!

From now until Christmas, our blog posts will be dedicated to fashion that gives back! We do not want to let the holiday season pass without being a blessing to others. Since most of us will be giving gifts to family, friends, co-workers, kid’s teachers, secret Santa pals and the like, Mommy Fashionality be sharing wonderful gifts that give back. Common Threadz is an organization committed to helping orphans in developing countries reach their full potential by empowering their communities with the resources necessary to succeed.  The company sells a variety of merchandise and for every item you buy, Common Threadz will give a school uniform to an orphan in Africa so that they may attend school, or meals for 1 month!
